“Leroy Merlin” begins construction of hypermarket in Kaliningrad
“Mall of Baltia” retail park project enters new phase - the biggest home-improvement store chain in Russia “Leroy Merlin”* has acquired land just outside Kaliningrad, at the intersection of major highways in Kaliningrad region: Kaliningrad Ring Road and Primorskoe Ring, and has already started construction works.
French retailer chose this location as the most convenient for Kaliningrad city and Kaliningrad region residents. Construction works are in full swing. Hypermarket with total space of about 17 000 sqm, that's planned to open in 2017, will offer wide choice of building, interior decoration and gardening goods.
When such a big player in DIY segment enters regional market, it's a significant event that determines investment attractiveness of the region. “Baltic Mall” company, retail-park project developer, considers opening of “Leroy Merlin” hypermarket to become a kind of catalyst for other large federal chains to open their stores in Kaliningrad.
During the next stages of the project development it is planned to build grocery, sport-wear, furniture, electronics hypermarkets, apparel, footwear and accessories shopping center, as well as a car service facilities.
